kept a little light in a box,
Where no careless hand could reach,
Away from those who couldn't see
The beauty life could teach.
I kept my hope inside that box
When life became too hard,
I kept my kindness safe within,
Protected, loved and guarded.
I kept the dreams I once believed
Would someday find their way,
Though disappointments came and went
And darkness stole a day.
I kept my self-worth in that box
When others made me doubt,
When words became like heavy stones
And tried to wear me out.
I kept the tears I couldn't show,
The pain I couldn't explain,
The memories of broken trust,
The lessons born from pain.
I kept my laughter, kept my fears,
My wishes and my tears,
The little pieces of myself
I carried through the years.
I didn't lose my light at all...
I simply learned to guard it.
For not everything I carry
Belongs in careless hands.
And when the world became too cold,
I'd open up that box...
And find my hope still glowing there,
Despite the knocks and shocks.
My kindness was still breathing,
My dreams still knew my name.
My worth was never lost at all...
It simply survived the pain.
But remember, my box was never meant
To stay closed eternally.
One day, when my heart is ready,
I'll open it...
And set it free.
I'll let my hope shine....
I'll let my kindness flow,
I'll let my dreams rise up again
And become what they're meant to grow.
I'll open up the heart I've guarded,
I'll no longer hide my light.
I'll let the world see all I kept
Through every darkest night.
Oh yes! ! I promise...
I'll never close the lid again...
For everything I kept inside...
Was always meant to shine.
