I know it rains here because I feel the drops
Because there's no sunshine to kiss the crops,
Because the thunder chases lightening
And I quake; it's so deafening.
Can't you tell it rains? From the darkness, from the flood
From the torrent that drowns our blood;
From the hurricanes, from the hysteria
Of the modern physicist;
From the fiery eyes, the plaguing malaria
Of the flagrant racist;
From the tyrant's winds that bend the trees
Oh God! In my veins, I feel this unease!
And with eyes closed and heart open, I wait
For sunshine to come kill this hate.
