I Lost Poem by Mary Champion

I Lost

I lost the best man that I ever had,
I lost my sweet loving baby.
I lost all the faith that I had in my dreams
when I lost the will to say ‘may be'.
I wouldn't concede and I wouldn't defer
and I couldn't share his way of seeing.
I lost the best man that I ever had
cos we weren't so hot at agreeing.

Oh why do I have to try making a stand?
Oh why can't I go with the flow?
Why must I fall on my principled sword
then find I have nothing to show?
I lost the best man that I'd ever met,
I lost my eternal dream baby,
I lost all my hopes and it's me who's to blame,
cos I lost the will to say, ‘may be.'
