I Never Wanted To Make You Cry Poem by Hannah Barham

I Never Wanted To Make You Cry

Can't he see I'd give my all for him?
Breaking me on rocks of life
He sighs: 'I never wanted to make you cry.'

Is it not enough he has the best of me?
Why wasn't I enough?
Why wasn't I good enough for him?
Why can't he see he is my all?
And I said: 'Do what it takes to make you happy.'
He said: 'I never wanted to make you cry.'

Breaking me on razor blades and daisy chains
Breaking me in pools of water and knife edges
Breaking me on rocks and nails
He sighs: 'I never wanted to make you cry.'

Can't he see I'd give my life for his?
Breaking me to set him free
He sighs: 'I never wanted to make you cry.'
I say: 'Sorry is never enough.'
