I Only Wanted You, But You Wanted Her. Poem by Violet Warren

I Only Wanted You, But You Wanted Her.

As I say my prayers
And lay down in my bed
I still have thoughts of you
running through my head

Then I dream
of me holding you in my arms
And in your ear
I would whisper my sweet charm

Then I wake up and the tears
start to fall
for I realized you weren't
there at all

maybe someday this dream will come true
and we may meet again
So that I can tell you
how much I loved you then...

This poem seems familiar to me... Like one I've once read before... odd how it too seems to make me well up inside with a sickly pain and a bit (if not more) of understanding of the reader's voice, for I too have long awaited for someone to be with me... but sadly this is only so in my dreams as well...
