I renounce the chains
that bind the nafs;
I burn them in the fire
of resistance—
a flame that does not consume me,
but keeps me whole.
I will not bargain
for a dimmer soul,
nor sweeten the whispers
the shadows weave,
nor kneel for a crown
borrowed from dust.
The nafs deceives,
a cruel mirage,
a serpent's tongue
draped in reason's guise.
Yet I remain unbent.
My spirit, like a mountain,
stands rooted in truth,
hungering only for light.
It strikes to fracture me,
to cast me down
into the night's abyss—
but I rise,
clothed in dawn,
resolute as the sky,
my heart a burning star
that conquers all.
