I See You Poem by William B. Deutscher

I See You

I see you
sitting pretty,
a favored pair,
breathing off life
in a rarefied air,
striking your pose
at the top of the stairs.
I see you
bottoming out
all the way to our doom,
at wits end,
the heat-domed noon,
burying us both
in an off-shore tomb.
I see you
with your blue swatch
snatch of sky,
wasting away
as our time goes by,
grasping at shadows
from up above,
crying in dreams
for your own lost love.
I see you,
I hear what you say,
falling as if from a great height,
going down,
running aground
in the seashore day
and star-specked night.
