I Seek Your Face Poem by Michael P. Johnson

I Seek Your Face

Where are the hands I felt so strong?
Where is the love once sweet?
Where are the arms where I belong?
That made my life complete

Beyond high hills hidden from view
Lost from eyes full tears
I sought the world for something new
These painful lonesome years

Dare I yet wait with hopeful heart?
Aching in depth of soul
Will this emptiness ever part?
Will I achieve my goal?

What prayer should now Your servant pray?
What favour could I seek?
That You my God would turn this day
And strengthen where I’m weak

Has peace to ever close its door?
Shut out the joys of spring
Or is the love I’m craving for
About it’s song to sing?

My hope my trust is in Your hand
My very life is Yours
I fail to see or understand
Behind tomorrows doors

I know Your love will never fail
Though peace seeps from my heart
I know through faith I could prevail
And see this night depart

I’ve health I’ve wealth but fail Your care
I’ve lost the chance to live
Though still with You yet life I’ll share
If You my faults forgive…
