I Sit On This Hill Poem by Kelli D. Williams

I Sit On This Hill

I sit on this hill
Praying to thee
That you could come and rescue me
From the hate of others
And the rage of war
I'm sitting here asking
What's it all for
We all come from the same father
And live on the same earth
But no one seems to realize
The value and the worth
Of the animals and trees
Or the mountains and the seas
We all believe they were put here for us to use
But there's one thing we should know
These are beautiful things
That we shouldn't abuse
'Cause if we destroy them now
There will be nothing left
The world would be a mess
Full of darkness and anger
Sadness and tears
All of our fears would show
And the desperation to turn back time would grow
So I sit on this hill
Praying to thee
That you could come and rescue me
From the hate of others
And the rage of war
Unlock the gate
And let me through heaven's door
So I won't have to wonder anymore
What all the fighting and anger is for.
