I, The Striver Poem by Lucas Pate

I, The Striver

Do you feel that?
The Earth shaking,
From the pounding of my heart.
Like a guitar,
Laying out a steady chord during a breakdown.
Kicked to the ground,
I'll fight my way back to the top.
Drawn real close,
Too be thrown out into the cold.
I have no problem standing alone.
A replacement.
A Fill in.
A placeholder.
You Betrayed me.
Lesson learned,
Now moving on.
Passion engulfs my soul.
Dignity run deep through my blood.
I am strong.
Integrity pours out.
Peer into my restless eyes.
Once down in the dirt.
With the heart of a lion,
I will raise to the top.
Do you feel that?
The Earth shaking.
I have more heart than you.
