I've Got No Past Poem by Omari Adams Makaye

I've Got No Past

I ‘m in this new world,
It's a new chapter,
a new dawn has broken,
I got nothing to reminisce,
This is a new me,
I'm the man in the mirror,
Apparently I got no past,
Neither do I look into the future,
I don't mean I'm in limbo,
But I guess I am!

I see the light in my present,
And complete darkness in my past,
Oh no! I got no past.
My present is perfectly overwhelming,
I just dread going into the future,
Cause I'm living for today,
I got no past, albeit I'd hate having it,
Sitting in the sandpit, I can feel the breeze,
It symbolizes viridity,
The best of times I've enjoyed,
I wish I'd live in my present forever!

The air right here is fresh,
The world is tranquil with peace,
Everyone sings hallelujah!
My world is green and beautiful,
The people here are full of bliss,
I heard them call me ‘Anonymous'
The children sing mellifluously as dusk beckons,
I get on my feet ready to leave,
The day is slowly fading, tears tie up my lashes,
Perhaps as it dawns tomorrow, I'll have a past to tell!
