I’ve Learned Poem by Michael P. Johnson

I’ve Learned

I live although I once was dead
Was bound but now I’m free
Through lust within the devil’s bed
I failed The Truth to see

But by God’s grace at Jesus’ feet
I see The Way to live
I’ve learned through hate I failed to eat
The love that Christ would give

I’ve learned through thirst to seek The Well
That’s hidden from most eyes
But found, has much a man to tell
That far exceeds the wise

I’ve found great strength on bended knee
Flowing from Heaven’s throne
I’ve found obedience is the key
To joy and peace unknown

I’ve learned true love will open doors
Dry multitudes of tears
Reveals to God our many flaws
That causes most our fears

I’ve learned that age is no concern
Colour is only skin
I’ve learned when love we truly learn
That all mankind are kin

That God’s the same as at times dawn
That Jesus brought the light
That man can truly be reborn
Receiving perfect sight

I’ve learned religion counts to nought
That temples tumble down
True salvation can’t be bought
Yet faith receives a crown
