I’ve No Excuse (2) Poem by Michael P. Johnson

I’ve No Excuse (2)

If I my God, were saved again
Within Your hand once more
No matter Lord, how high the pain
I’d keep Your holy law

It sounds with ease! I say these things
And lightly bend the knee
But now I know salvation brings
Much more than first we see

Unlike a windy autumn day
When leaves and branches fall
No word or deed can drift away
Your eyes can see them all

With this in mind, I dare to speak
My words I choose with care
Your face my God I humbly seek
If still for me, You’re there?

Too many words have caught the breeze
Yet with a brand new start
To seek no-more the flesh to please
I’ll try with all my heart

On bended knee to You I cry
If I in Christ may live
I promise Lord, this time to try
I’ll drink the cup You give

The talent that I hid so well
Your gift, I held from sight
I’ll use in Christ to keep from hell
Those lost and void from Light

I’ve never said such things before
This time my heart is true
If now You let me through Life’s Door
I’ll serve no-one but You”…
