I will carry you, dad
As you always carried me
This last trip we take
Will be so hard to see
As a kid on your shoulders
On a giant I sat
You gave me view of the world
Over the top of your hat
Though at times so unlovable
You loved me still
It took me so long
To understand your will
You wanted me happy
You wanted me to be a man
Well now for you dad
I'll do the best that I can
I'll leave this world better
Like you tried to do
I'll always work hard
To be more like you
Thank you for everything
You gave all that you had
I'll pay everything back
To honor you dad
With this poem that I write
I want the world to see
How amazing a dad
That you were to me
I will carry you home
With tears on my face
I will carry you safely
To your last resting place
