Bleak winter canvas, wrought in shades of grey,
how dull the spirit this hibernal day.
Skeletal trees stripped bare of every leaf,
see them withered, wizened, spread beneath.
Grasping night encroaches on the day,
compresses it and sends it on its way.
Leaden rain falls from the listless sky,
lethargic clouds, reluctant to pass by.
Then comes the master painter, brush in hand,
spreads dazzling streaks of white across the land.
And as the final cloud fades out of sight,
transforms the drab, grey sky, with cold blue light.
