If Evolution’s True Poem by Michael P. Johnson

If Evolution’s True

If God and Heaven isn’t real
If evolution’s true
Then each can live the way they feel
Regardless what we do

The strong and rich would dominate
Havoc would wear a crown
No order, store, no queue to wait
No bridal ring or gown

No trial to stand no test to fail
No schools no pupils taught
No police no penal jail
Where no one need report

Content with liars thieves and cheats
Molesters without score
There’d be no debt and no receipt
Collected at the door

No critic, foe or law would stand
Opponents counting nought
No witnesses to raise a hand
And no judicial court

There’d be no nurse or doctor care
No fuel or cars to sell
The strong and rich have need to share
Where no one thinks of hell

But if the Bible’s true and right
If truth’s in every word
Then all we do is in God’s sight
And Darwin’s thoughts absurd

Yet if we’d live the way we should
Though Christ had bore no cross
We all could die still doing good
And none would suffer loss
