If He Had Been Here! Poem by mohanan viswambharan Nair

If He Had Been Here!

Why am I being neglected? , whenever I feel it,
I walk to the river under the full Moon to look upon the water.
I feel happy, as the Moon laughs at me through the branches
of a tree, which leaned upon the water, noticing I am worried.
I pluck my bleeding heart from me and put it on a green leaf,
on the bank and sitting by the river, take water in a hallowed palm.
Pouring it on and on until it is cool, I stand up and view the Moon rises,
he is milky cool, I place my heart back and walk back in pride.
I don't know how to live nourishing bad things in mind and so, I am not a winner.
I can't adapt as per time, pruning my words as it is not hidden.
No worries, if the number of enemies increases and put me isolated
as I can walk to the river and pluck out my heart and cleanse it in the fullness of the Moon.
I must have a place in history if one man thinks of me: -
'If he had been here, ....................!
