If He Is One With The Shadows Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

If He Is One With The Shadows

This pillow is flattened and cold
Please Sleep, I can manage
The shadows around
Won’t lay a scratch on me
I’ve gone through worse

Oh evenings,
How you try to hide my secrets
But we all know
Who you really work for;
You’re a traitor

As I close my eyes
Praying for peaceful sleep,
You devour me as I lay helpless
Under these sheets
That cover over my naked dreams

The clock ticks like a maniac
I hear a distant bellow;
The skies have gone insane, mad
They crave for my hopes
But I seal them shut

My defenses are crumbling
These eyes begin to fall
Sleep is catching on but I care not,
I’ll fight another night
My dream will never be taken from me

If he is one with the Shadows
