If I Choose You Poem by Joseph Sakyiamah

If I Choose You

‎If I choose you,
‎I will choose forever.
‎Forever not to hurt you, but to stoke you.
‎Talk to yourself so you love your better self,
‎Walk with you like the sun into your day.
‎Stay with you like the moon through your night.

‎If I choose you,
‎I will grow with you, not break loose.
‎There's sweetness in your honeycomb.
‎With you, close like the sky and rain,
‎Believing in you is how I'll love you.
‎Love you like the cold wrapped in blankets.

‎If I choose you,
‎Your words will be so sweet when you talk to me.
‎I will feel refreshed like the earth after rain.
‎Knowing we belong to each other and are kept safe,
‎Never to walk away, but to talk as we journey.
‎That's what I meant if I choose you.
