If My Dog Could Talk. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

If My Dog Could Talk.

If my dog could speak, you see,
This is what she'd say to me:

'Bowl is empty! Feed me now!
Water dish? Just show me how!
Gotta go outside, you know,
Urgent need, must quickly go! '

'I love you, yes, with all my heart,
We're bestest friends, right from the start!
Don't leave me, please, I get so sad,
You're all I have, my mom and dad.'

'Pet me now, behind the ears,
Rub my tummy, calm my fears!
Walkies, walkies! Let's go play!
Sunshine fun, all through the day! '

'Thunder booms, it scares me bad,
The vacuum monster makes me mad!
Why the mailman? Always bark!
I'm just protecting, from the dark! '

'Fat and some ache, I move so slow,
But that new food? I don't like it, no!
You're my pack, my family true,
I'll always love and stick to you! '

'When you're gone, I miss you so,
Where did you go? I want to know!
That look I give? I'm wondering why,
Sometimes rules just make me cry! '
