If nothing at all actually exists Poem by Hans Faverey

If nothing at all actually exists

If nothing at all actually exists,
I would also much sooner
have stayed away myself. With these

and suchlike words

the tamarisk burnt out, sanctifying
the ground. Once his breath was back
the stranger fell still. Even he knew
little more than he keeps to himself
of what was told him. The sun
was the hardest to bear, he spoke

bitterly.
