If Only Heaven Knew Poem by Lora Cooley

If Only Heaven Knew

When your heart starts racing
Your blood starts pumping
We tie the laces that bound your body
Hold you close to the earth
When your feet want to fly
Settling for the
Tap
Clap
Crunch
Of the floors your feet are
Breaking
The boundries of the word
Free
Flirting with the letters of passion or life
You grab the air

For the moment it's soild
Close your eyes to see yourself stealing the breaths out from their mouths like it was yours from the start
Make their eyes fill with tears
Too wide
Taking in too many movements just to live
In your steps
As your legs reach to the air
You're far too bound
To be earth bound

They finally caught the bemused angel
Too beautifully painful to live anywhere else but the Ballet
Words meaning the same as Heaven
You die so that you can forever live
On that stage
For the
Tap-Clap
Crunch
Of your broken feet they know the worn in pain of
ClapClapSmack
Following the marks
The words spoken
To tie your wings by your feet
Making your body soar

So sore for the applaud that devoirs the music's urgent want of your bound body, the true angel bound by the pointe, bound so the music can feel them fly

If only Heaven knew our secret

If only Heaven knew where their angels had gone
