I sought the bird with desperation
I really desire to have it
But I can see a thousand other competitor
Wanting the same bird with determination
As a hundred compete for a royal sit
So we all want this bird!
If my eyes aren't deceiving me
I can see its nest on my tree
But the other men seem to prevail
As the bird falls headlong on their tree
'Cos of its many leaves
And for their persisting deceptive call
But if the bird is mine
I can let it fly away
And if the bird is mine
It can't be for another
For if the bird is really mine
It will surely come back to me!
