If You Are Truly There Poem by Michael P. Johnson

If You Are Truly There

Broken hearted lost and alone
She voiced her solemn prayer
Lord hear my plea my tearful groan
If truly You are there

If You are God and You can see
If You can hear my cry
I pray Your arms to comfort me
Or else I pray to die

I pray Your love to keep me warm
I pray Your guiding hand
I pray You’ll help me through the storm
Or give me strength to stand

I’ve heard that You can answer prayer
And that Your name is Love
So really God if You are there
Than help me from above

Confirm my God You truly save
Reveal You truly care
Come free me from the yawning grave
If truly You are there

I too would live beyond the clouds
I too would live in peace
Far above the maddening crowds
Where joy will never cease

Give faith that I may know You Lord
Give strength that I may stand
Allow my life to be restored
By Love’s amazing hand

I’m calling loud I’m calling clear
Forgive my wayward past
I pray Lord Jesus save me here
And give me peace at last
