If You Knew Poem by Hannah Barham

If You Knew

If you knew
the overwhelming
confusion
disruption
you’re brought to my
disordered
bewildering life
I doubt you’d change a thing.

If you knew
the bemused
unsettled
perturbed
nature of my thoughts, my
confounded
muddled mind
I don’t think you’d explain.

If you knew
the many
harrowing
tortuous
ways in which I’m trying
desperately
wretchedly not to care
maybe you’d learn to care for me.
