Immanuel Kant. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Immanuel Kant.

Kant, a thinker, wise and deep,
From Germany, his thoughts did creep.
He asked, 'How can we know what's true? '
And what is right for me and you?

He said that laws we all must find,
Not pushed on us, but in our mind.
Freedom's not just doing what we please,
But living by our own decrees.

A moral law, we understand,
A guiding light across the land.
So act, he said, in such a way,
That all could do the same, each day.

To treat each person with respect,
And never use them, to collect
Some selfish gain, or short-term bliss,
True freedom lies in thoughts like this.
