In Church Unsaved (1) Poem by Michael P. Johnson

In Church Unsaved (1)

We go to church and think we’re saved
For years believe we’ve won
We’ve lived sweet lives so well behaved
Yet all without God’s Son

How tragic still we sit and think
In church we’re finest wheat
Yet Jesus’ blood we’ve failed to drink
Salvation’s flesh to eat

“Oh yes I’m saved” we smile and boast
“I’m saved by grace on high”
Yet no one fools The Holy Ghost
However hard we try

Without God’s Spirit in our soul
If Christ’s not Lord within
There’s no mistake, we re not made whole
We’re walking dead in sin

However harsh the truth may sound
The humble! Christ can see
With contrite heart, salvation’s found
By souls on bended knee

I know too well what some yet say
I too thought truth was mine
I thought in church I’d found the way
Partaking bread and wine

I paid my tithes, praised God in song
I knew the leaders well
In knowledge, none could prove me wrong
No way was I for hell

Religion is the devil’s tool
The liar’s out to kill
He’s come to steal to cheat and fool
The pit of hell to fill…PTO
