It withers in the cold
And bends in the wind
But never does it break, my love for you
Its starved of sunlight
Happiness it rarely sees
But as darkness clings to the evening sky
As does my love for you
Its thorns are sharp
And its leaves bitter
But even your lips smothered with poison
Couldn’t make your kiss less sweeter
Your beautiful blue eyes
That comforting smile
Your strong arms around my waist
Holding me tight
Side by side through the long, cold night
My love for you isn’t missed
But your love for me drowned in an unfathomable boundless abyss
I watch you wither
Wither with my soul
I feel your hurt and cry your tears
Your hurt is my pain
Your fears my thoughts
Loving you is loving without gain
Withering away
Through the lonely nights and long days
Snapping and blistering
Scolding and impossible
When hope dies
And my heart sinks
When every thought is of you
My love carries on like the song bird in spring
Whistling its joyful tune
As is my love because I can't stop loving you.
