In The Fitting Room Poem by kate williams

In The Fitting Room

Look in mirror:
Get a fright!
One too many cakes last night!
As for outfit, nothing's right:
I'm like one big blight!

Shirt too short,
Skirt too tight,
Coat too dowdy,
Shoes too bright,
Legs in tights like stalactites,
ankles bulging, feet a fright!
Hat makes me a mad old bat -
All I need is witch's cat!

Whole sight turns my appetite -
forget snack lunch and that.

Wasted day!
Still, nil to pay,
and bag still nice and light!
