In White Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

In White

it promises to be everything it never was
and your promises mean everything to me now
as you fade
in a haze

that tower I built
so many years ago
goes up in smoke
okay...
it was never occupied anyway

I will always love you
but no longer will I
descend by your side
you're dead
to rights
you're dead
high

travel
to a distant land
to defend and protect
a fortress
that never had room
for my kind
only to find the picture I had painted
was only in white

I will always love you
but no longer will I
descend by your side
you're dead
to rights
you're dead
high

I painted you in white
I painted you in white
I painted you in white

I will always love you
but no longer will I
descend by your side
you're dead
to rights
you're dead
to rights
you're dead
to rights
you're dead
high
