Inside, Lingering, Waiting Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Inside, Lingering, Waiting

The world passed her by
hoping she was meant for more
she spread her wings and jumped
she fell; she couldn’t fly.

She lost herself
to the demon inside her
her dreams of living and achieving
were left broken and bent.

Somewhere inside of her
she rocks herself to sleep
somebody wake her;
she’s inside, lingering, waiting.
