Insurance Policy Poem by Allan Thorne

Insurance Policy

Still after four years
I give my ex-wife financial advice.
I hope it works out for her
And she makes a lot of money.

From a practical point of view
This would relieve me
Of a bit of misplaced worry,
She's no longer mine to worry about
After all.

But then maybe it's like insurance.
So that when I am old
And cannot
And can no longer
Make it on my social security
She will be wealthy enough
In both money and kindness
To let me move into her pool house to die.
