Integrity Poem by Thomas Dooley

Integrity

Rating: 5.0

Has moral ground become sand and dust
We can't count on the things we once trust

No integrity in a lie when it is the truth you hide
Soft hands soft mind is the result of the ego's pride

The truth once was like steel now it is just rusting away
Optimism tries to heel in the darkness of the day

No integrity in selfish privilege when hate is your only message
Truth and lies today are blurred lines but no courage to acknowledge that

Is justice the cure for the pain or have we lost our way
No inspiring words to take us through these days

No integrity in peace an unfulfilled desire is our reality
Creating the ingredients for genocide as we watch Palestinian children die

God doesn't choose who lives and dies we elect our leaders to do that
Now they wonder why everyone's when it is in the past

No integrity in fear wondering what brought us here
Too scared to show you care when hate is all you hear

You come along way to forget yesterday when all you did was prayed
Now you live with a hypocrite lie acting as if you care but you don't even try

Integrity is the inner wealth
Integrity directs the moral compass
I would rather be poor with integrity
Than rich without a soul
