Interdependence Poem by Jim Wade

Interdependence

Late at night and
Looking up
I lean into
The stars
Like a blade
Of grass
Tilting toward
The sun

Billions of years
and fathomless
Distance separate
Here from there
But their elements
Are our elements
And they are us

Peering back
In time we
Understand
That they gave
Us awareness
But we give
Them meaning.
