Interfaith Hymn 02. Wedding Poem by Michael Maxwell Steer

Interfaith Hymn 02. Wedding

We mark this hour with joyful praise
to celebrate this best of days.
So long their courtship course had run,
till now this time of vows is come.
With open heart we sing our love
and call on angels all to move -
One love, one hope, one life.

With all who're holy gathered here
uniting Martineau & Steer,
we play our part with true intent
and words that never were more meant,
in lusty voice our acclamation
calls on spirit's affirmation -
One love, one hope, one life.

In all that here is happiness
let's not forget that times of stress
contain within their darkened cloud
the power to make our partner proud.
Endurance is a heav'nly test
but through it all we'll find we're blest: -
One love, one hope, one life.

We should not wish them easy life,
but rather that in times of strife
a greater grace will overlight
each fear and peril in the night.
So may we all unite our prayers
and focus all our wills with theirs -
One love, one hope, one life.
