Invitation Poem by Kenneth Umunna

Invitation

Far and wide my echoes go
To full and empty my tom-tom go
To all who wait to hear my glow
It’s time for me to let you know

To all the rich and poor alike
My table with home and abroad alike
Come dine and wine with me tonight
My dreams are coming home tonight

What dreams you poke and quiz me
Just dine my friend and let me be
But ask again after your fill
And all it is I just might spill

Of all your dreams I heard about
And all the dreams you did without
The theme of love was far away
But for this feast you hold today

Your thought on this is but a guess
If right or wrong I won’t say yes
But as you dine and wine with me
All that’s in it you’ll surely see

My king arrives, he comes with ease
His grace is why we take in breeze
So much it is we cannot count
It flows from high just like a fount

Alas you know of what I speak
Of God’s own grace is why I speak
Its worth is more than we can tell
For you and me it does make swell
