Io Matrona Poem by eve Taylor

Io Matrona

But what have you really done?

I raised a family,

to my best ability,

and after all these years,

I continue to provide.

And how does that make you feel?

Happy and sad,

a failure and a success,

as if I could turn back time,

and change nothing,

but be a better kind.

Will you die satisfied?

I suppose I will,

but with a tear,

falling down,

my left side.
