Irreconcilable Differences

They thought that the match had been made in heaven,
But then found that it had to be broken
They both agreed that no one should have to live that way-
Even though they'd gotten along really well at first
But then life and boredom began to slowly creep in
And then along with, of course, that dreaded old theme of
Familiarity breeds contempt
They also cried that they're not the same people
And that one of them must have changed; and so now of
Course, they both want to run the show
Whatever happened to love unto death, they asked?
As they maneuvered for a piece of the spoils
In the end, however, the only thing that they had in
Common was that they were merely human
