Is God Still There Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Is God Still There

Can the face of God, be sought right now?
Can you share your thoughts inside?
Or steeped in filth, refuse to bow?
Because of foolish pride

Is God too dumb to recognize?
Your God’s too blind to see
Because of shame, for Paradise
He’ll fail to set you free

Do you think your sin’s far too vile?
Your quest remains a dream
That grace, will fail to reconcile
Your shame‘s beyond extreme

Your stench to Heaven’ appalling
Offensive God to smell
Do you think grace won’t be calling?
To save your soul from hell

Did the death of Jesus not suffice?
The Father still want more!
Does He need a greater sacrifice?
To close death’s gaping jaw

For Christ declared, death’s lost its sting
His stripes paid ailments price
Salvation’s found beneath His wing
Please follow my advice

Though the living God’s, on holy ground?
He knows what people say
Here on earth, He’ll still be found
By sinners when we pray

In Jesus’ presence bend your knee
Your heart and soul reveal
In reverence wait, till grace sets free
You’ll feel the love that’s real…..
