It Is Well Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It Is Well

Unworthy of the time of day
Estranged to loving arms
To endless life I’d barred the way
As slave to Satan’s charms

However deep each festering sore
However harsh life’s blows
However long life’s raging war
Yet deep inside me knows

My future’s greater than the past
Greater than all before
So mighty is The First & Last
Who gave me faith so sure

My trust is in The Living Christ
My hope’s in Jesus’ name
By faith in whom I’m sacrificed
In Heaven’s Holy Flame

Onward upward I’m climbing Lord
Rising each day anew
Fighting against each evil sword
With victory pain in view

Great was the wrenching of my soul
The heartaches joy and pain
Turning toward life’s perfect goal
And birth through Christ again

Yet great is Your heart Father dear
Mighty Your Living Word
Great is Your love ever so near
That deep within has stirred

I know inside my soul’s alive
My spirit’s free of hell
That day and night I live and thrive
For Christ’s made all things well
