It's My Fault Poem by Piper Brown

It's My Fault

Sitting in that church chair
She sits as one not alive
Her mind wandering not there
I watch her floating high above
I am love
Looking over at him crumpled
Fallen to his knees, head in his hands
His mind twisted, confused
“love came down and rescued me
Love came down and set me free
I am Yours. I am Forever Yours.”
The words sink slowly in
Her body flashes to life
Swiftly walking out of the room
I watch as she falls to her knees
Trying desperately to keep herself together
After returning to the room
Her arms and legs heavy, heart a deadweight
Tuning out all sounds except her heart
Moving, beating, breaking
Finally making it out of there
I watched her flee from the room
Running and collapsing in her safe spot
She wonders if he will show
I watch him stumble toward her
Pulling back to avoid being sucked in
My spirit dries her tears to be strong for him
Tears spill over his eyes, immediate pain
Intense pain, blaming eyes, pointed fingers
Its my fault
