It’s Through The Blood (1) Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It’s Through The Blood (1)

We think in church we’re safe in life
In death, we’ll rise on high
That man unsaved is not the wife
Of Him who came to die

It’s not enough to sing and pray
It’s not how much we know
It’s not how good we live today
Nor if to church we go

Before a marriage comes to stand
Before true love can bloom
Before her choice can take her hand
A bride should know her groom

To know of Christ is just the start
Let truth be understood
Knowledge alone can’t change our heart
We need to drink His blood

To drink; we need the truth to see
Of Him they lifted up
Visit God’s Lamb on Calvary’s tree
And there to fill our cup

Drink free Salvation’s precious wine
His peace, His selfless love
Receive His Lamp that burns divine
His promised Holy Dove

Without is no one born again
We’re naked, cold and dry
Our need of Christ is all too plain
In those who’ve feared to die

Personal; must our Jesus be
Our King, our Lord and friend
His guiding hand to keep us free
Until the very end…PTO
