It's Time Poem by Mustafa Marconi

It's Time

It’s time
We pack our belongings once again
And meticulously place them
In the trunk of the car
Returning briefly to say our goodbyes
We ready ourselves for the long journey north
Turning to our right
We wave goodbye one final time
Our hearts heavy
Our eyes full of tears
Praying that our next voyage south
Will find them both in splendid health
We cry because we understand
The delicate scales of mortality
We see it, we read about it
We experience it everyday
Up till now it had never hit home
Or perhaps we refused to acknowledge it’s imminent existence
As for years we have witnessed
Two strong and determine spirits strolling along
Yet with each passing day
Just a little more deliberate
Selfishly we long to hold you indefinitely
Knowing deep inside
That nothing can alter the natural cycle of life
So we travel along
Troubled yet hopeful
Our hearts heavy
Our eyes full of tears
Grateful for every precious second
That we have been honored
To share with you
Praying that our next voyage south
Will find you both
Welcoming us with open arms
