Jack-In The-Green (Limerick) Poem by Kevin Patrick

Jack-In The-Green (Limerick)

Do you remember old Jack in the green?
He could uproot his roots for a mayday routine
And by impish subversion
Deflower a virgin
And that's how we got our lovely May Queen

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Jack of the green is a character effigy used in UK mayday parades. Usually a man dresses up head to toe in a garland of leafs to basically be a walking tree. Hes knowing for his bawdy dances and trickster nature.

I'm familiar with Wes. In fact I wrote my own limerick about him. He's a great limericist and he's got a knack for drawing as well. In Oogies Adventures he uses limerick to tell the story of a comic strip he's been developing
