Jack O'Lantern Poem by Anonymous Ghurl

Jack O'Lantern

Once I was satisfied
Settled in my place
Now a Jack O'Lantern's smile's
Carved into my face
When I was a little girl
I liked to skip and hop
Then someone came with gleaming knife
And carved away my top
WIth a spoon, they did replace
My happiness with lies
Set my on the porch and then
They left me to the flies
Where once I was bright and full
Now just and empty shell
And even though I live and breathe
I feel like I'm in Hell
Now I know just how you feel
Jack O'Lantern there
Eye to eye I look at you
And share the same blank stare
The smile that's upon was
Carved so full and wide
The same one sits upon me
And hides whats here inside
Cause if you took a knife
And took a look inside
You would find a strange surprise
I am just empty
