Jeremy Junkins Poem by Mary Champion

Jeremy Junkins

Jeremy Junkins was not very nice.
You might play with him once,
but you wouldn't do twice.
Jeremy Junkins was mean and unfair
cos he cheated at games and
he pulled people's hair.

When Jeremy Junkins ran in a race,
he would laugh at the rest if he came
in first place.
But, if he lost, he would be at his worst
and he'd shout nasty things
at the child who came first.

Jeremy Junkins was naughty in school.
He would never sit still
and he broke ev'ry rule
Jeremy Junkins was rude to his Mum
and when his Dad called him
he just shouted, 'Shan't come'.

Jeremy Junkins was walking one day
thinking about all the unkind
tricks he could play,
when Jeremy Junkins met an old dame,
she was shrivelled and bent and
a little bit lame.

The little old lady said, 'Sonny, please
can you help me a bit?
Cos I've got creaky knees.'
But Jeremy Junkins stuck out his tongue
and then told her that
he never helped anyone.

But there is something I still have to tell:
that he wasn't just bad, he was
stupid as well.
That little old lady- she was a witch
and the tip of her wand
was beginning to itch.

Jeremy Junkins was feeling quite smug
when all of a sudden
he turned into a slug.
'There, that will teach you, you nasty young man.
try to get yourself out of that
fix if you can.'

But sitting up high on a nearby tree
was a little tom tit who was
ready for tea.
He swooped down and gobbled the slug; now it's sure
that Jeremy Junkins won't be
rude anymore.
