Jesus, Oh Jesus Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Jesus, Oh Jesus

Rating: 5.0

If once again I could return
When love was found inside
When righteousness my filth could burn
And I was Jesus’ bride

When truth revealed Salvation’s dawn
When joy brought longed for peace
When hope and faith inside was born
And doubts began to cease

You opened up this sinner’s eyes
The way grew crystal clear
You filled my cup broke all my ties
And took away the fear

Sweet times were spent on bended knee
You gave life’s precious Dove
The world could see the change in me
Could see my fruits of love

Was I not free of Satan’s chain?
Was life not really mine?
Was I not truly born again?
And grafted in The Vine?

I know I’ve read the true report
I know I drank Your grace
But once again I’ve fallen short
And darkness veils my face

Once more I turned my back on You
Gave up my time of prayer
I drank instead of Satan’s brew
And ate the devil’s fair

Jesus, oh Jesus, hear my cry
I know I’ve done You wrong
Yet hear this child again on high
Please hear my humble song.
