June 15 Poem by Eli MorenoDrew

June 15

I.

Come with me through
A desert.
We’ll burn our knees
And scrap our elbows crawling,
Sliding,
Swimming through warm sheets.

II.

With your eyes fixed on me
Like a woman on a mission,
I haven’t felt more bare and vulnerable.
We both don’t know what will happen,
We both don’t care.

I’ll close my eyes and you keep one open
So you can guide me from one corner,
To the next,
Top,
To bottom.

Falling down with you
Makes me forget about no one hearing a falling tree.
Your hair like Spanish moss and me
Like a wayward vagabond rowing through
Your rivers.
