Just A Dream Poem by Matt Burgett

Just A Dream

Last night I had a dream of you
A mental push and a mental shove
For me to make this dream come true
I must find a way to re-capture your love

So far away we had found a way
To fall in love with each other
It seemed we connected instantly
But regretfully there was another

For me I was wrong then I fell
And I can't seem to get back
Past the depression known as Hell
My one chance came and past

You moved on and yes I tried
But something deep inside
A love for you that still thrives
Keeps me half alive

With hopes of that dream coming true
I sit back and wait for a chance
To connect my heart once again with you
This time to make it last

Within this dream you were happy
Hands locked your eyes did shine
You loved me back full of glee
Just knowing that you were mine

But my eyes opened and I woke up
I realize now what you mean
My once in a lifetime chance at your love
Was nothing more than just a dream
