Just because you think you have me figured out, doesn’t mean you’ve even come close.
Just because you know I’m of the female persuasion, doesn’t mean you understand a
thing.
Just because I’m no girly-girl, doesn’t mean I don’t want to feel beautiful.
Just because I’m a prima donna, doesn’t mean I can’t be one of the boys.
Just because I’ve got dirt under my nails, doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a manicure.
Just because I pamper myself each night, doesn’t mean I don’t relish bruises and scars.
Just because I spit and curse, doesn’t mean I don’t curtsy and blush.
Just because I act like I’ve got it all figured out, doesn’t mean I’m not racked with
insecurity.
Just because there are days where I feel alone and scared, doesn’t mean there isn’t an
inner strength made of steel.
Just because I’ve written these thoughts down, doesn’t mean they make much sense.
Just because you think surely someone told her she was special, doesn’t mean it would
hurt to say so.
Just because I think I know who I am, doesn’t mean I might not be mistaken.
Just because you think you have me figured out, doesn’t mean you’re wrong…
